“She would rather walk alone in darkness than follow anyone else’s shadow” – R.G.Moon
I understand the thought behind that quote. Yet, for me, I eagerly follow in my father’s shadow.
My dad is 90 years old with a rich valuable heritage.
Growing up there was nothing my dad couldn’t do. He was esteemed by his co-workers at General motors. He created a die that saved the company millions of dollars.
He has always been a key person within the church. Sunday School teacher, board member and construction worker were a few hats that fit. He also was an unofficial counselor.
I learned many things from my father such a planting a garden, fishing, changing a tire, hunting and more. Other lessons learned were to finish the job, help others when you can, satisfaction in a job well done and most importantly – put God first in all things.
We saw and still see many results and blessings from placing God in first place.
My dad is a cheerleaders and encourager. I am never present with him without hearing “I love you”, “I’m proud of you”, “You’re a good mom.”
So, his shadow cast is large and full.
I will stand within my father’s shadow in hopes of having my own shadow worth observing.
