Farmer's Year End Prayer

Well God, we made it another year. I’m not sure how we did but I’m grateful.

It’s been a good year. A horrible year. A year of death and growth.

The unknowns grew faster than corn on a hot humid day.

Opening the milk checks never happened without prayer before hand and petitioning God to do what he always does – make it work somehow.

365 days without injury or serious illness. 365 days of protection from all the possible accidents.

Your provisions came through weather which you programed specifically for us. Sunrises and sunsets caused us to pause and praise you for the beauty you supplied. Every calf born reminded us of the gift of life that comes solely from you. Sowing in the spring gave us hope for a future. Summertime gave time for faith to grow. Harvest brought good crops and thankfulness for your plan you placed into creation.

Remembrance of all the years before helped push down the fear of uncertainty that rose up daily.

Settling within our hearts that day by day what we want and what will be may be different but perfect because it will be orchestrated by you.

As we walk into another year the concern and anxiousness fight to get through the door beside faith, hope and trust.

Plans are laid out covered in prayer that things will get better. That has been the prayer for several years and while the income to produce has failed miserably you have made a way for us to continue.

Our prayer in the past has been that we will continue to continue as long as God provides. Our prayer and belief are that all will work out.

We are living our story without knowing the ending while trusting the author to bring blessings greater than trials, joy over sorrow and faith over fear.

God bless the farmers, those he created to take care of his majestic creation and may they provide witness to his greatness.
