While I was out for a morning walk/pull with Max I noticed the flowers on the roadside where we sowed wildflowers. At first I thought they came from two different plants. We have a variety of blooms in our patch.
The first flower is the “normal” flower on this wildflower plant.
The second flower is the “different, challenged, handicap, disabled” or whatever label you want to use for non-normal – flower on the same plant.
To some it would be unacceptable.
Not normal or challenged is less valuable.
Not normal or challenged is difficult to deal with.
Not normal or challenged is looked at differently.
Not normal or mentally/physically challenged is not wanted. It’s a burden hard to bear.
A few thoughts:
1. Who decides what is normal?
2. Why isn’t “not normal” considered unique?
3. Why can’t the “not normal and normal” be enjoyed side by side without comparison?
If you are a “not normal” or have a “not normal” in your life I celebrate with you.
I think this “not normal” is beautiful in its uniqueness and stands out and stands up as an individual that is seen as special – not as one of the others.
I think God sprinkles “not normals” throughout the world for a reason. Sometimes we pick the wrong reason.
Here’s to all the “not normals” and those who live with them. Blessings and may you find joy in the beauty of the “not normal”.
