A Conversation with God
ME: Good Morning God
GOD: Yes, it is.
ME: I have a question.
GOD: Go ahead.
ME: Is it ever going to be easier?
GOD: Define easier.
ME: You know, not so hard.
GOD: How much is too hard?
ME: I don’t know. I’m just exhausted trying to keep my head above water in so many places. I would like a day or two without conflict, strife, division.
GOD: Oh, I see. I know how you feel. My children are really acting up lately. So, you would like a day with peace and no turmoil?
ME: Yes. That would be divine.
GOD: So, in all reality you want a day where you don’t need me.
ME: Well, that’s not exactly what I want.
GOD: Can you clarify?
ME: Ummmm I would just like a day with no problems, a day with no conflict, a day with, yes, peace.
GOD: Define peace.
ME: Peace is when there are no problems. Peace is when everything is going well, and everything falls into place.
GOD: So, in other words, a day without needing me?
ME: Well, that’s not what I meant.
GOD: OK. Continue with your explanation.
ME: I would like a day when I didn’t have to be concerned about dealing with issues with others. I would like a day where there was no bad news. I would like a day when my body isn’t hurting.
GOD: Ah, now I understand. You want a day without needing me.
ME: Argghhhh. I guess I’m not saying it right. I thought you were supposed to be able to know all and understand.
GOD: You’re right. I do understand. I understand you want a day without the need to call on me. A day when everything lines up in your world to give you your idea of peace. You want a life that doesn’t need me. You want my benefits without the need to rely on me.
GOD: Let me help you here. Right now, you are living in the physical, human world. There will never be a time in this world when there is total peace. Free will – the ability to choose will always come with two sides. The good and the bad. You can’t have one without the other. Part of your issue is that you are trying to create your idea of peace with your own strength. That’s not how it works. In the confines of this world peace can only arrive with my Presence.
ME: It feels like there is too much swirling around to feel your peace.
GOD: Is it possible the swirling is caused by your continued need to make your definition of peace happen? My peace does not come without conflict or trials. My promise is to bring you peace within the boundaries of this world.
ME: I guess I’ll just have to try harder.
GOD: Correction. You just need to quit trying and start relying. On me. Your peace is faulty and temporary. My peace will never leave you. The problems will not run off my peace. Turmoil will not cancel my peace. Issues will not define lack of peace.
ME: So how do I do that?
GOD: Start with taking a deep breath . . . and keep your eyes on me.
