1. We would never appreciate the good times. We would/do take for granted when things are going well if we didn’t have anything else in our lives.
2. It reveals our weak spots. After going through something chances are you will be stronger for it the next time. The next time another weak spot will show up that you can strengthen.
3. It gives us the opportunity to come along side someone else to help. Solid help comes with experience.
4. It will expose who your true companions are. Those who love you will stick with you. Those who fall away aren’t worth it anyway.
5. How we respond shows the world our vulnerability. Everyone has it, no one wants to share it. Yet, it’s a benefit when we see that we are not alone in that area.
6. Tough times test your confidence in your Anchor. Does your anchor hold when the waves are overwhelming?
7. When you truly feel you are at the end of your ability to carry on, somehow, someway you find just a little more within you to continue. You discover that within yourself there are gems of strength.
8. If you are a believer in Jesus Christ, you will see that his words are true and timeless.
Do not look to earthly things to hide from those storms I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust. He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart." Psalm 91: 2
If you feel you failed the last time you had a tough time, do not be dismayed. There is another one coming. We all are either headed for, in the middle of or coming out of a challenge.
That’s life. Plain and simple.
The good times can and do last longer than the times of trial. We just need to be aware of it. Concentrate on those victories.
My friend, wherever you are on this journey, know you do not have to walk alone. There is a God who created you, who knows you inside out and has a great plan for you.
